Russian Philharmonic in the League of American Orchestras

Since May 2011 Moscow City Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic” is International Member of the League of American Orchestras.

The League of American Orchestras leads, supports, and champions America’s orchestras and the vitality of the music they perform. Its diverse membership of nearly 900 orchestras across North America runs the gamut from world-renowned symphonies to community groups, from summer festivals to student and youth ensembles. The only national organization dedicated solely to the orchestral experience, the League is a nexus of knowledge and innovation, advocacy, and leadership advancement for managers, musicians, volunteers, and boards.  Its conferences and events, award-winning Symphony magazine, website, and other publications inform music lovers around the world about orchestral activity and developments. Founded in 1942 and chartered by Congress in 1962, the League links a national network of thousands of instrumentalists, conductors, managers and administrators, board members, volunteers, and business partners.

The League's role as a national advocate for orchestras dates back to the successful grass-roots campaign to repeal the federal tax on concert tickets 50 years ago. With the founding of the National Endowment for the Arts in 1965, the League became an advocate for increased federal support for all the arts. The League also gave form to several independent arts organizations, including the American Council for the Arts, the Music Critics Association, and the Conductors' Guild. Since its beginning, the League has relied on volunteers to accomplish its mission.

The League arranges more than 30 meetings each year from the annual National Conference (gathering more than 1,200 orchestra professionals including staff, volunteers, trustees, conductors, musicians, and business partners) to individual constituent meetings which bring together the Best Minds in classical music industry and provide practical knowledge.

Mr. Jesse Rosen is President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras.
